In order to join the esteemed ranks one has to participate in 3 different productions (acting, designing, production, hospitality, etc...). Of the many that we have done so far, these few, these proud have stuck it out.

Lyf Stolte

Position(s): Artistic Director, Production Manager (and just about everything in between)

Lyf was born in Worcester, MASS. and then raised in Buffalo, NY. He and his family moved to Saskatoon, SK when he was 10. It was here that Lyf eventually discovered his love for acting. He performed in 2 musicals while in highschool, West Side Story and Bye Bye Birdie. These 2 shows really whetted Lyf's appetite for theatre and acting. After highschool, Lyf too a couple years off to work and figure out where it was exactly that God wanted him. During this time Lyf audited some acting classes from a local university and also participated in a couple community plays.

Soon, Lyf felt that it was time to go back to school. He signed up for a mish mash of classes including acting and religious studies, the 2 areas where his interest was greatest. Through that year, it became very obvious that acting was indeed a gift God had given him. He was having fun, developing lots of relationships with some wonderful people, and growing constantly in his spiritual and physical life. His drama teacher was a great encourager without being trite about it. She encouraged Lyf to work and not stop working even when he thinks he has it right. It was during the summer following that first year when Lyf heard about Rosebud School of the Arts in Rosebud, AB. He went there to see what it was all about and to see if it was a place where he would like to practice the art of acting. He stayed for a week to get a good feel of the community and campus there. Sure enough, he auditioned and within a few weeks was accepted into their Mentorship Acting Program. He was in Rosebud for 3 years and graduated in October of 2001 with his FRSA (Fellow of Rosebud School of the Arts) in Acting. It was a tumultuous 3 years but ones that Lyf would not give up for anything. There were times when he called Rosebud Hell and times when he called it Heaven. In the end, God revealed to Lyf much about who he is and who God is.

During his last 6 months in Rosebud, Lyf was contacted by Greg Paul of Sanctuary Ministries. Greg inquired of Lyf if he would be interested in coming to Toronto to develop a drama initiative for the Sanctuary community. The Sanctuary community is comprised mainly of the marginalized people in the downtown core of Toronto. Lyf & Greg talked for about 6 months before Lyf actually went to Toronto to visit Sanctuary. Once there, it was beautifully clear that this is where God wants Lyf. Another 6 months passed while Greg, the board members and the other staff deliberated about inviting Lyf on as full time staff. At the end of those 6 months Lyf got the call from Greg "officially" inviting him to join the staff of Sanctuary. During the time when Lyf was waiting for this call, he was active in the drama community in Saskatoon at a local dinner theatre, the Off Boradway Dinner Theater. It was a blast. The people Lyf acted with were fantastic and when Lyf goes back to visit, he makes sure he stops by (although this last time he forgot...Sorry).

Lyf arrived at Sanctuary on January 8th, 2003 and has been enjoying his time here ever since.

Tony Alexander

position: Actor
member since: December 2004

Tony Alexander has been part of the Sanctuary community for a few years now. He is a pre-eminent crazy eights player and thoroughly enjoys his soccer season. Tony began with the group in January of 2004 and has been in every performance to date. He enjoys the opportunity to tell a story from a characters perspective. Tony also thinks that acting just might be the thing for him. Lyf is going to challenge him soon with bigger and more complex roles. Until then though, Tony will conquer nations (on the computer) yell at various cathode ray tubes (tv's) and force people to skip their next turn (crazy 8's).

Thea Prescod

position: Actor
member since: March 2005

Thea was born in the staff bathroom of a Barbadian rum factory, where she got accidentally put in a crate and shipped to a rumshop in the Republic of Muldova. She grew up in the rumshop, sweeping floors and serving drinks until the ripe old age of three, when she started riding the rails and ended up in Sealand (when questioned about the fact that Sealand has no working rail system, Thea generally becomes snarky). After receiving acting training at Sealand University, Thea played Frankie Avalon in their national production of Grease as well as Kermit the Frog, in the Sealand Royal players production of "The Muppet Movie - on stage." She attended three rehearsals of each production. No one knows when or how Thea arrived in Toronto, or why she persists in pretending to be a street nurse. Some call it her finest role yet.
