Passages...

Well, opening weekend is over and I am HAPPY!

As some of you know, I have been working on a big project these past 3 years and it has finally come to life. We have been rehearsing it since January 10th and we just had our opening weekend. It was friggin' good! And it feels so good to have this dream come true.

I have been at Sanctuary for 5 years now and this is one of those dreams that I had as Greg and I were talking about me coming on board. The whole idea that the people that we work with are doing everything to be heard, but they aren't. They are constantly ignored or worse. In order for healing to happen, understanding needs to be there and if you don't listen to people, you will never understand them. However, people also need to learn how to communicate in ways which others will hear. So, theatre and art are perfect tools for this understanding to begin to take place. Sanctuary has been so supportive of me in this venture and I could not have done this without their help and patience. My own journey thus far has been one of seeking understanding, both for myself and from me to others around me. So this play is a huge step for myself and for our community. If you are in the area, please come by and check it out. All the details are on the plays website: http://www.sanctuarytoronto.ca/passages.

Hope to see you there! If you don't get a chance to come out and see it, you will be able to catch a bit about it on my next newsletter!
